CZECHS BOUNCING AFTER ELITE GOLF TRAINING AT PGA NATIONAL TURKEY

The Czech Republic’s golfing stars of the future have their sights set on a successful summer after putting the finishing touches to plans for the 2019 season at PGA National Turkey Antalya Golf Club – the second year in a row they have visited Turkey’s premier golf resort.

A total of 64 players from the Czech national men’s, women’s, boys’ and girls’ squads headed to the award-winning resort in Belek over the last month for two separate training camps supervised by coaches Staffan Johansson and David Carter.

In addition to working on technique, the two week-long training breaks– one for 40 juniors and the other for 24 elite national players – included extensive sessions on chipping, putting and long-shot skills on PGA National Turkey’s two acclaimed championship courses – PGA Sultan and The Pasha.

Czech national team fitness coach Milan Mojzis was also on hand to put the golfers through their paces away from the fairways and driving range, while the players had time to relax and take advantage of the resort’s outstanding array of other sports and leisure facilities while staying at the Sirene Belek Hotel, one of two five-star hotels at PGA National Turkey.

Carter, a former winner on the European Tour, said: “We love it here. This is my third trip to the resort and we really like the facilities and the staff. Everything is first class and that’s why we keep coming back.

“We had a packed schedule of six to seven hours a day but the players all worked tremendously hard and they loved it. The different nature of the two courses means that there is great variety to the practice sessions that we can run. It’s great and we hope to come back again.”

“It was fantastic to welcome the players back again this year,” said Michael Jones, director of golf at PGA National Turkey Antalya Golf Club.

“They played each course twice as they liked the contrasting mode of play and challenges that each one brings. They were all extremely satisfied with the all-round quality and service of our facilities and hotel, especially PGA Sultan, and we’re looking forward to them coming back next year!”

Situated 25 minutes from Antalya, PGA National Turkey Antalya Golf Club’s outstanding facilities include two 18-hole golf courses and two luxury hotels – the 176-room luxury five-star Kempinski Hotel The Dome and the five-star, 442-room, Sirene Belek Hotel, which underwent a €2m room refurbishment programme over the winter.

Complementing the layouts are excellent practice facilities including a 300-metre driving range and academy, while the resort recently joined a select group of courses to receive the official endorsement of The Professional Golfers’ Association, being renamed as PGA National Turkey.

Away from the fairways, hotel guests can enjoy access to numerous other sports and leisure facilities including tennis, football, various watersports, kids’ clubs, fabulous pier and two luxury spas, while the resort also offers an array of opulent culinary experiences at a variety of bars and restaurants.
